SKILLS THAT CAN BECOME A LIVELIHOOD
Our vocational programmes are designed to give learners practical competencies that can be applied immediately in the workplace or used to establish small businesses.
- A student who learns tailoring can become a tailor.
- A student trained in welding can establish a welding workshop.
- A trained hairdresser can operate a salon.
- A trained mechanic can work in or establish a garage.
- A student trained in catering can find employment in the hospitality industry or establish a catering business.
THIS IS THE POWER OF SKILLS-BASED EDUCATION.
GIVING VULNERABLE CHILDREN A SECOND CHANCE
Many talented young people come from financially distressed families and face significant barriers to education.
For some families, paying school fees is already a major challenge. Purchasing the tools, equipment and materials required for vocational training can be an additional burden.
As a result, vulnerable young people may complete training but still lack the basic equipment needed to practise their trade, obtain employment or start a small business.
At Lords Meade, we believe that poverty should not determine a child’s future.
Through the support of education sponsors, charitable organizations and development partners, vulnerable children have been given an opportunity to remain in school, acquire practical skills and prepare for a better future.
